Monroe Soccer Club (MSC) and the Monroe American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) will jointly award up to two $1500 Merit Scholarships to graduating (senior) students -- one male and one female. Competition is open to students who attend an area high school and have been involved with MSC and Monroe AYSO.  The criteria for determining the recipient(s) includes (but is not limited to):

1. Commitment to further their education
2. Devotion to the sport of soccer
3. Grade point average – “B” minimum
4. Span of MSC/AYSO involvement (minimum 2 years)
5. Degree of MSC/AYSO involvement (player, referee, service on Board(s), etc.)
6. Notable soccer achievement (ODP, All-Conference, etc.)
7. Demonstrated leadership qualities (team captain, Board member, etc
8. Conduct on and off the field (community involvement, etc.)

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship the applicant must submit a letter to the MSC Review Board by May 31, 2012.  Said letter should request consideration and indicate why the applicant believes he/she deserves the award (as per the above criteria).

The MSC Review Board and Monroe AYSO will consider all requests and recommend a winner(s) for a full board approval.
